Who is Uncle Sam?

Sam Harden Jr. goes by the stage name of Uncle Sam, and his interest in magic started when he was a child from watching magic on TV and seeing local magician Dixie Dooley perform. This interest led to a hobby that started by checking out books from the local library. For many years Sam only performed his magic at home for family and friends, and occasionally at work for coworkers and customers.

In 2005 Sam joined the Fellowship of Christian Magicians and became friends with some very talented entertainers and was able hone his craft even further. This new level of experience gave him the courage to take his magic to the next level and he started performing at churches and then birthday parties.  Needing something extra at his Birthday parties he decided to learn the art of balloon twisting around 2007.  After being laid off at the beginning of 2010 Sam decided to elevate to the next level by becoming a full-time entertainer.

Sam’s unique brand of comedy reflects the great talents he grew up watching on TV. There were many influences, but Sam’s favorites were Lucille Ball, Tim Conway, Red Skelton, and Carol Burnett just to name a few. Many times, children refer to Uncle Sam as a clown, even though he wears not make-up at all.  He is also a talented guitar player singer and song writer. Sam finally joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 2016.

Sam is also an ordained Minister with a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary, and he loves coming to churches and doing programs for Sunday school, Community outreaches, Vacation Bible Schools, Summer Camps, and Fall Festivals, or Trunk and Treat events.
